Ego Uighardus, per consensum Wlfheri regis, dono tibi Bernguidi uenerabili abbatiss=, et per te monasterio tuo, manentes .xl. qu= sunt in loco qui appellatur Sl=pi, ut habeas, teneas iure dominio, tam tuo quam monasterii tui uindices ac defendas. Si quis contra hanc donationis me= cartulam uenire temptauerit, sciat se rationem redditurum in die iudicii et condempnatum esse cum ipsis qui ad sinistram ituri sunt. TRANSLATION

In the name of God the Father. During the rule of King Wulfhere, in year 14 of his kingdom. I, Wigheard, with the agreement of King Wulfhere, give to you, venerable Abbess Beorngyth, and through you to your monastery, 40 hides that are in the place which is called Slæpi, to have, hold both by your right of property and that of your monastery, vouch for and defend by law. If anyone should attempt to act against this record of my gift, let him know that he will have to render an account on the Day of Judgment and be condemned with those who will go to the left hand. Executed in the month of October, in indiction 9.
