Jane Austen Study Day – 12th July

Trinity College will be collaborating with Jane Austen House Museum and Chawton House Library to offer a study day focussing on the writing of Jane Austen. It will run from 10am to 3:15pm on 12th of July, and will include lectures and workshops, as well as tours of the museum, Chawton House Library and the gardens. 10:00 – 10:15  

Arrival at Jane Austen House Museum. Welcome and introduction.

 

10:15 – 10:45  

“Jane Austen, Life and Times” – Introductory Talk in the Learning Centre

 

10:45 – 11:15  

Session on Jane Austen’s teenage writings in the Learning Centre with  Cambridge Fellow, Dr Anne Toner

 

11:15-11.45  

Split into two groups.

Group 1 –  tour of Jane Austen House Musuem

Group 2 – sessions in small groups with Dr Anne Toner in the Learning Centre

 

11.45-12.15 – Groups swap activities

12:15 – 12:45  

Break: Packed Lunch and time to chat to the fellows

 

12:45 – 1:00  

Walk to Chawton House Library

 

1:00 – 1:30  

Informal Question and Answer Session with Fellows and Schools Liaison Officer

 

1:30 – 2:00  

Session on Jane Austen with Dr Anne Toner in the marquee

 

2:00 – 2.30  

Group discussions

 

2:30 – 3:00  

Tour of Chawton House Library  and the current exhibition
