We are happy to announce that we have launched a new programme for Year 10 students in partnership with Target Oxbridge! Target Oxbridge is a free programme that aims to help Black African and Caribbean students and students of mixed race with Black African and Caribbean heritage increase their chances of getting into the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge (known collectively as Oxbridge). Since launching in 2012, Target Oxbridge has helped over 200 students to secure Oxbridge offers.
This free online programme will provide Black African and Caribbean students, and mixed race students with Black heritage, the opportunity to gain an early insight into life at Cambridge and how to secure a Cambridge place.
Students will be invited to attend four monthly webinars between April and July. These webinars will provide the chance to hear from current Black students at Cambridge and to ask questions about their experiences. The team at Trinity College, Cambridge will also provide information on what admissions tutors are looking for in applicants, and how students can make the right A Level choices to improve their chances of securing a place on their preferred Cambridge courses. The webinars will also provide advice and insights into how degree subject choice impacts career options, as well as the chance to take part in a mini lecture run by a Cambridge academic.
Who can apply?
The programme is open to UK-based state school students (or those on a full scholarship at an independent school) in Year 10 and who identify as Black African and Caribbean, or mixed race with Black heritage. The students accepted onto the programme will be predicted at least three GCSEs at grade 7, or will have the potential to achieve these grades but be in need of additional motivation and inspiration.
What does it involve?
The programme will consist of four online webinars, taking place once a month between April and July
