The Brilliant Club
The Brilliant Club X Trinity College Transition Project
We have partnered with The Brilliant Club to develop an exciting two-year programme of support for Scholars Programme graduates in the North of England* who are interested in applying to the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford (collectively known as Oxbridge).
Many of these pupils have the potential to progress to a leading university but may not have had the chance to engage directly with Oxbridge due to their geographical location. This project is aimed at Scholars Programme graduates, who are now in Year 12, to support them to develop the relevant skills and knowledge to make a competitive application to study at Oxbridge.

Applications now closed
Applications for The Brilliant Club programme are now closed. The programme runs every year so sign up to our mailing list to be the first to hear when applications open for this and our other programmes.
WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?
Students have the opportunity to complete The Scholars programme for a second time with a PhD researcher from Trinity College, University of Cambridge, attend a summer school at the college and receive a series of bespoke study skills and information, advice, and guidance sessions to support them with their UCAS application and the transition from Year 13 to university.
The project includes:
- Academic enrichment via a virtual Scholars Programme placement, designed to support the supra-curricular engagement that Oxbridge look for in student applications, in Year 12 and an online study skills at top universities transition series in Year 13
- Online mentoring and support for Oxbridge applications, assessments and interviews
- A summer school (the exact format of which is to be decided, following COVID-19 guidelines) to give pupils a taste of both academic and personal life at the University of Cambridge between Year 12 and Year 13
- Transition support via a series of online sessions with a PhD Tutor leading up to and during the first term at Oxbridge
Applying
This scheme to open to sixth form pupils in Year 12 in the North of England who have completed The Scholars Programme in Key Stage 4 but, given their location, are unlikely to have worked with a PhD tutor from Oxbridge or visited an Oxbridge college as part of the programme. Applications are reviewed with priority given to pupils who meet The Brilliant Club’s targeting criteria.
Applications are made through eligible schools working with The Brilliant Club.
Application Deadline: Friday 29th January 2021
Contact Jon Datta at jon.datta@trin.cam.ac.uk if you have any questions or queries about this programme.
*We are also considering applications from students, outside the North of England, who meet one or more elements of our eligibility criteria.
