We are delighted to announce the return of our summer picnic events, taking place on Sunday 27 August 2023.

The programme for the day will be as follows:
12:00pm – Event begins in Nevile’s Court
12:30pm-3:30pm – Face-Painting
4:00pm – Event Closes

Wild Arts Opera
Wild Arts, presented by alumnus Orlando Jopling (1989), presents A Summer Opera Evening 2023. The evening combines a host of opera favourites, including Rossini, Handel, Puccini and Sondheim, in an exciting programme all contained in the gorgeous setting of the Fellows’ Garden in Trinity. Join us after Trinity on the Backs on Sunday 27 August for an evening of musical favourites.The perfect close to a summer’s day in Cambridge.
Wild Arts makes great music fresh and enjoyable, performed in intimate venues, for everyone – with a focus on environmentally sustainable touring, outreach, and top quality performance.
Please use the buttons below to register. If you would like to attend the opera, you are automatically registered to attend the Trinity on the Backs event, and do not need to book twice.
Will there be parking provided?
Yes, parking will be provided on the South Paddock accessed at the rear of the College via Queens’ Road.
Will there be food provided?
Ice cream and drinks will be provided, but we encourage alumni to bring their own picnics.
Do I need to bring my own chairs?
We will provide tables and chairs under the Wren Library and deckchairs on the Scholar’s Lawn and in Nevile’s Court.
What’s the process for going punting?
A number of punts will be available from the Trinity Punthouse for alumni from 12pm to 4pm. Punts will be allocated on a first come, first served queueing basis across the afternoon.
Will there be a photographer?
Yes, a photographer will be present at this event. If you would prefer not to be photographed, please let a member of staff know on the day.
Will the event still take place if it rains?
Yes, Trinity on the Backs will take place as normal in Nevile’s Court, using the cover of the cloisters.
