CHANGES AND CHALLENGES IN BANKING
Banking is in a state of flux, of rapid evolution and change. The endgame is not yet clear. The winners will be those who understand and anticipate the direction of travel, the losers, those who misjudge it.
One man who is in a better position than most to take the long view is John McFarlane, who has been at the top of banking for over two decades. He is now one of the most widely respected bankers globally. Consecutively he headed Citibank UK&I, Standard Chartered, and ANZ. At ANZ he spearheaded a turnaround which transformed the bank’s fortunes and its financial performance. He was appointed Chairman of Barclays in 2015.
Tonight, John will talk about the many challenges he faced along the way; the challenges facing banking today; and insights into the fundamental undercurrents of change.
Please arrive at 6.45 for registration for a 7pm start. The event will be held at Gresham College, Barnard’s Inn Hall, Holborn, London EC1N 2HH.
