Trinity College is the largest of the Colleges of Cambridge University, with some 700 undergraduates, 400 post-graduates and 194 Fellows (the senior members of the College). The College is seeking applications for the post of Assistant Manciple. He or she will be responsible for assisting the Manciple with the Lunch and Dinner service at High Table, organising staff and pre-lunch preparation; to include laying up lunch tables with relays, assist with the running and cleaning of the Fellows’ Combination Room after service, to maintain stock and cleanliness of the room utilised by Fellows’ before and after meals (the Parlour), and all other aspects of service to the Fellows’. Ideally you will understand wine and how to maintain stocks as well as having functional computer skills.
The successful applicant must possess a friendly, polite and approachable disposition, be discreet and able to maintain confidentiality. The position would suit an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who is able to deliver high quality service to Fellows’ and both large and small functions. You will be responsible for ensuring that the Fellows’ requirements are met in a way which is sensitive to tradition and convention. Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will be expected to both assist and deputise for the Manciple in his absence particularly when working on opposite shifts.
Salary £21,299 – £23,389 per annum plus 12% shift allowance.
