College Nurse, Part time

Trinity College seeks a part-time registered Nurse to deliver first class health and welfare services and advice to the student community.

Trinity College, the largest College in Cambridge, has some 700 undergraduates, 350 postgraduates and 193 Fellows. The Nurse will join the College welfare team which is led by the Senior Tutor. The core responsibilities will centre on running regular drop-in clinics where the Nurse will be expected to deliver high quality and effective medical advice and support to students, including assessing and dealing with minor ailments and injuries, following up on medical emergencies,and referring students to other members of the College welfare team and/or local healthcare services.

To undertake this challenging and rewarding role, you will need to be a Level 1 Registered Nurse with the NMC who is able to work autonomously, prioritise and remain calm under pressure. The ability to communicate, liaise and interact effectively with colleagues and multi-professional teams, including local GP/primary care teams as well as members of the College welfare team and the University welfare services is essential. The successful applicant will be highly motivated and proactive, with a flexible attitude and excellent organisation and communication skills.

Hours of work will be 10 – 15 hours per week, to be negotiated, term time only (30 weeks per annum). An additional 2 – 3 days during the summer vacation will be required for administrative tasks.

Salary scale £39,027pa to £46,590 pa, pro-rata, on an incremental scale  (indicative salary for 15 hours per week, 30 weeks per year  is  £9,272 to £11,069 pa)
