Trinity College seeks an exceptional individual to become its next Junior Bursar. Working alongside and responsible to the College Council, of which they are a member, the Junior Bursar ensures the effective operational management of the College. The Junior Bursar is a major officer of the College, responsible for key services in support of the College’s objectives of advancing education, religion, learning and research.
Trinity College was founded by King Henry VIII in 1546, and is one of the largest colleges in the University of Cambridge, with over 1000 students, 187 Fellows and around 320 professional services staff. Home in the past to Newton, Byron, Rutherford and Bacon and connected to 34 Nobel laureates, Trinity offers a rewarding and intellectually inspiring environment in which its members can flourish. College life is lively and inclusive, with Fellows, students and staff from diverse backgrounds, and from all over the world.
The remit of the Junior Bursar is broad. The post-holder will lead important capital projects, delivering the vision and collaborative ethos of the College community. The post is critical in supporting and facilitating the academic work of Trinity’s Fellows and students. The Junior Bursar is expected to lead, mentor and inspire a 320-strong staff team, and to work in close partnership with students and the wider Fellowship. The Junior Bursar will contribute significantly to College life, and will be a visible and engaged member of Trinity’s Fellowship.
Strong candidates will possess a senior generalist operational background and experience of working effectively in a complex organisation of considerable scale. They will have experience of successful project management. They will bring strong diplomatic and relationship-building skills, and will be capable of engaging at all levels within the College. As an experienced team leader, they will have an enabling and supportive leadership style. They will be clear, analytical and strategic in their thinking. This is an exciting time to join Trinity College.
