Trinity College, the largest of the 31 Cambridge Colleges, wishes to appoint a Kitchen Porter to assist the Executive Head Chef in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the College Kitchens.
The Catering Department provides the food and drink service for members of the College as well as special functions. The Department consists of approximately 75 staff which includes Kitchen, Hall, High Table, Bar and Office staff. The Student Servery is open 364 days per year serving breakfast, lunch, and evening meals.
The role holder will play an important part in the day-to-day cleaning of the kitchen and wash up areas assisting with the cleaning, drying and storage of dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, and glasses etc alongside emptying and disposing of waste food bins and kitchen rubbish. The job involves operating plate and glass wash machinery and whilst that the area is maintained in a clean and safe manner at all times.
Experience in a similar environment would be ideal but not essential. Candidates must be reliable and well presented and able to work as part of a team. Ideally you will hold a basic food hygiene certificate and have experience and knowledge of COSHH however, training can be provided.
The role involves working on a shift rota system which includes evenings and weekends.
A salary of £19,248 per annum plus £2,310 shift allowance (£21,558 per annum) is offered with additional benefits which include, free lunch when working in College, cycle to work scheme, a subsidised gym, free private health and dental care subject to eligibility.
