Trinity College Cambridge are looking to recruit a knowledgeable IT professional, who has experience of managing a variety of Web Platforms and Content Management Systems. One of the most renowned and respected university Colleges, it has more Nobel Laureates than any other Oxbridge institution. Notable Alumni include Sir Isaac Newton and Charles Babbage. Trinity is now home to around 1,000 students and over 180 academics (Fellows) who are supported by over 330 staff. Technology plays a pivotal role in enabling the College to deliver its core research and administrative activities.
Reporting to the Head of IT, The Web Platforms Officer will work as part of a 9-person IT department. The role holder will maintain and continually improve the College’s Web Platforms (WordPress and SharePoint) and their associated plugins and add-ons to deliver an efficient and proactive service to Fellows, staff, and students.
The successful candidate will support, assist, and train colleagues and devolved authors in a range of departments on web-related subjects and systems, empowering them to publish their content and build tools to collect data. This position demands the ability to work in liaison with people of all levels, with a strong ‘customer service’ focus. You must therefore have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have worked successfully as part of a team.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate they are proficient in supporting and developing at least one of the key CMS systems deployed by Trinity – WordPress and WordPress plugins OR Microsoft SharePoint. Training will be provided for the other.
Applicants should have a great eye for detail with exceptional communication skills and should be enthusiastic about working for a busy department in a prestigious organisation.
