Trinity network connections for Fellows, Other Senior Members and Students
Wired Trinity Connections (College accommodation/office occupants)
All Fellow’s and student’s rooms in College have access to a wireless point or computer network point (an ethernet socket) that can be used to connect to the internet via an ethernet cable. A wired connection will be more reliable and provide a better connection speed than a wireless connection. Some devices may require an Ethernet adapter in order to make use of the wired network.
Registering from the device you want to add to the network:
What you will need:
- To have your University Account Login (formerly known as Raven) and have the details of this ready
- To have a device that can connect to networks using an ethernet cable (and adapter if applicable)
- To have located the Ethernet port in your College room
- To have an Ethernet cable that is under 5 meters long
- To have read all the Policies and Terms & Conditions of connection to the College Network (also available on the initial connection portal)
How to Connect:
- Find the Ethernet port in your room
- Plug the Ethernet cable into the ethernet port in your room
- Connect the other end of the cable to the ethernet port on your device directly or with an adapter if required (which must be purchased at your own cost)
- After a few seconds, your device should prompt you to log into the network
- Click ‘Login to network’ to open the login page in your device’s preferred browser
- Select ‘University account login (students and Fellows)’ and provide your University of Cambridge credentials when prompted (@cam.ac.uk)
- Click Login
- Unplug the ethernet cable from your device, wait 10 seconds and reconnect the cable to the device
- You will now be connected to the wired network on this device
