Within our application form, you will need to:

  • Tell us your GCSE or equivalent grades, and what you are currently studying. We realise predicted grades can vary across schools so we expect some variation, but you should have a good academic record and be studying academic subjects.
  • Tell us a bit about your interests too, so we can work out if you would be a good fit. Not being offered a place does not mean you wouldn’t be a good fit for studying at Cambridge. We can only offer places to a few students and your interests may just not fit the programme this year.
  • We will also ask you for a teacher reference. Please tell us the name and contact of a teacher who we can get in touch with.

We also ask about whether you have a disability and any accessibility or dietary requirements. This is so we can meet any adjustments you may need and is not part of our selection process.

In line with Trinity’s widening participation strategy, only students who attend a UK maintained (state) school are eligible for the programme. If the event is oversubscribed, priority will be given to applicants who fit one or more of the following criteria:

  • will be the first generation in their family to go to university (i.e., whose parents/carers did not attend university; this excludes siblings)
  • attend a school that sends few students to Cambridge or Oxford
  • are from an ethnic group under-represented at Cambridge
  • live in an area identified as having lower socio-economic advantage or low progression rates to higher education
  • have spent any time in care
  • have significant caring responsibilities (e.g. for a parent/carer or siblings that affects their ability/time to study)
  • are or have been eligible for free school meals, or the 16-19 bursary
  • are refugees or asylum seekers

This residential will be focusing on the biological natural sciences. The Natural Sciences Tripos degree website gives you a good idea of some subjects that you may be interested in.

Within your application to the residential, you will need to tell us which subjects you are interested in studying and explain your interest. Telling us this now does not mean you have to apply for this subject at University, and we expect you may be still deciding.

Please note that Trinity College does not offer Veterinary Medication for undergraduate study.

These events are open to students who are currently in Year 12 (England and Wales), Year 13 (Northern Ireland) or S5 (Scotland) and looking to apply to university to start in September/October 2027. Students must attend a non-fee paying school to be eligible for the programme.

Students travelling from particularly long distances, for whom same-day travel is not feasible, may be considered for an additional night of accommodation on the evening of 27 July so please do not let distance put you off applying.

The residential will take place from 13:30 on Tuesday 28 July to 15:00 on Thursday 30 July.

To be eligible, students must be available for the full duration of the residential programme.

Participants will be responsible for arranging their own travel to and from Cambridge. Guidance on the best ways to reach the College can be found on our Visiting Trinity College webpage.

Students travelling from particularly long distances, for whom same-day travel is not feasible, may be considered for an additional night of accommodation on the evening of 27 July.
