School Visits to Trinity College

Starting in Autumn 2025, Trinity’s Outreach & Admissions Team will be running dedicated KS4 and KS5 visit days. This approach will enable students to receive targeted support, gain an insight into studying at universities like Cambridge, and receive information about how to navigate their future choices.

Please continue reading this page to find out about the content of these days, eligibility of your school, the dates we will be running them, and how to apply.

What does a visit day include?

  • Two sessions with the Trinity Outreach team, tailored to whether the students are in KS4 or KS5. These sessions will provide guidance and support on the university application process, developing super curricular skills, and post-16 subject choices.
  • A Q&A with current students
  • A tour of Trinity College
  • A tour of the Wren Library
  • Lunch in our Dining Hall provided by the College

Visit Days take place between 11:00am – 3:00pm. Groups can arrive from 10:45am to ensure a prompt 11:00am start.

KS4 Visit Days are designed for students in Year 10/11 England/Wales, Year 11/12 Northern Ireland, S3/4 Scotland.

These sessions introduce pupils to studying at university, the options this pathway opens and an overview of studying at the University of Cambridge.

The second admissions session is focused on supporting your pupils to make informed decisions when they choose their post-16 subjects for A Levels/ International Baccalaureate. We will then cover how to select a course at university, career opportunities, and how to explore your interests in a subject.

KS5 Visit Days are for students in Year 12 England/Wales, Year 13 Northern Ireland, S5 Scotland.

Our KS5 visit days are all about supporting your students to make competitive applications to universities.

The first admissions focused session will centre on introducing the University of Cambridge and the degrees we offer, breakdown the barriers to understanding Cambridge, and look at university education more generally.

The second admissions focussed session is ‘Super-curricular Activities and Preparing a Competitive Application.’ This session will explore selecting a university course, how to prepare a strong personal statement, exploring your super-curricular interests and introduce students to the Cambridge admissions process.

Our booking request form is open to all UK state schools.

As demand will outstrip the availability of sessions, and to ensure our outreach activity has the greatest impact, we will operate the below prioritisation criteria.

Core eligibility criteria

  • The school is a UK state school
  • The pupils attending are in the correct Key Stage for the visit day
  • A member of staff will accompany the group on the visit

Prioritisation Criteria (in order)

  • School with a high proportion of students eligible for Free School Meals
  • School that has a low progression rate to Cambridge and Oxford
  • A school in IMD quintiles 1 or 2

The Trinity Outreach Team has strong relationships with schools across the UK, especially in areas with low progression to higher education. We receive lots of requests to visit schools, and are not able to accommodate all requests. We encourage schools to visit Trinity and experience first hand, but we know that this is not possible for all schools.

We can run the sessions we run for KS4 and KS5 visit days in your school. Get in touch with [email protected] if you would like to request a visit

You will need to enter Trinity College via our entrance (The Avenue, Queens’ Road) on ‘The Backs’ where you will be met by a member of the Trinity Outreach Team.

The College is unable to provide coach or minibus parking. We therefore suggest that you get dropped off at the Queens’ Road Coach Drop Off and walk five minutes to college. Driving in Cambridge is particualrly tricky with lots of bicycles, one-way streets and local bus only roads. We therefore encourage you not to drive through the city centre.

We can provide more detailed information on bus parking ahead of your visit.

If arriving by public transport, Cambridge (CBG) is a well connected station with frequent trains to various destinations. Trinity College is around a 30 minute walk from the station. There are regular buses into the centre, with Bus A dropping you off a two minute walk from the Great Gate Porters’ Lodge on Trinity Street.

Each school is able to bring up to 20 students, and 3 accompanying members of staff. Our school visit days are for multiple schools at once, and we encourage schools to select high-attaining students who are interested in studying at Cambridge.

We are happy to provide training for teachers and advisors while students are in sessions. Please contact us to find out more.
