On 12 July 2025, approximately 225 alumni who matriculated in the years 1993, 1994 and 1995 returned to Trinity College for their Annual Gathering, marking a memorable and joyful reunion.

It was a heart-warming sight to see so many familiar faces reconnecting and walking through the historic College grounds while conversations flowed easily.

The day began with check-in, followed by a delightful welcome tea and cake under the iconic Wren, where alumni gathered to enjoy one another’s company while receiving an update on the latest happenings at the College. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, excitement, and heartfelt conversations, as long-awaited catch-ups and personal stories unfolded.

For those who wished to partake, Evensong provided a peaceful and reflective moment, with the Alumni Choir’s beautiful performance adding a special touch to the service.

As the afternoon transitioned into evening, alumni gathered in Nevile’s Cloisters for pre-dinner drinks. Conversations continued to flow, and new connections were made before the evening festivities began in earnest. A group photo in Nevile’s Court captured the spirit of the day, followed by the sound of the gong, signalling the call to dinner in Hall.

The dinner itself was a memorable occasion, with the Alumni Choir once again setting the tone with a beautiful grace. We were honoured to have Professor Dame Sally Davies, who gave the Toast to the King, and three Alumni speakers, Gregory Leadbetter (1993), Madelaine McTernan (1994), and Euan Murray (1995), who delivered the Toasts to the College, reflecting on their personal experience at Trinity, sharing poignant reflections on world events since their time at College, and offering life lessons learned during their time here.

“This dinner is, of course, a feast – a feast in fine company, and a feast of food and drink. I recall that as undergraduates or postgraduates, we feasted quite a lot at Trinity – both literally and metaphorically. Whether it was a Formal Hall, a soirée in the OCR, a garden party, a get-together organised by your Director of Studies, or indeed something completely informal, food and drink were and, I believe, remain at the heart of College life.”Professor Geoffrey Leadbetter, 1993.

“In our final year, we turned the backs into an incredible fairground complete with a hot air balloon and a Helter skelter…[sic] A privileged event in all senses, it was certainly memorable.  Diving back into the archives, I have extracted this summary from the Varsity review from Tuesday 17 June 1997: “For this one night at least we are all special, sharing in the most magical of nights before we drift off into the dawn, forever touched by tonight’s experiences. Trinity is pure style, grace and class.”Madelaine McTernan, CB, 1994.

“When most of us arrived at Trinity, a long, long time ago, it was our first time living away from home. It pushed us out of our comfort zones – academically and socially. And then, it what seemed like the blink of an eye, it was over. Out into the big wide world. And yet, when we come back, whatever we’ve done with our lives and wherever in the world we are arriving from, the Fountain is still here, the Porters, the Fellows in ill-fitting clothes. It seems like a constant. Somewhere calm we can return to that we understand and that understands us. Somewhere that we belong.”Euan Murray, 1995

The evening concluded with post-dinner drinks under the Wren, which was illuminated in a stunning array of colours, providing a perfect backdrop for the final moments of the event.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended this year’s gathering. It was a pleasure to welcome so many alumni back to College to celebrate the enduring bonds of our Trinity community and to create lasting memories together.
