Support the First and Third Trinity Boat Club Ergathon!

Members of First and Third Trinity Boat Club are undertaking an Ergathon (24 hours of non-stop rowing, starting midday on 23rd May) to raise funds to help subsidise training camps. Every stroke and metre logged is dedicated to one goal: to help ensure that training camps continue to be accessible to all.

I’ll never forget the feeling of waking up on the first morning, looking out of my window and going “wow…I really get to row twice a day on this beautiful river!”

What are training camps?

Training camps provide an immersive environment for focused, intensive coaching and skill development. Away from the usual academic pressures, members can dedicate significant time to strengthening their technique, endurance, and ability to work together as a team—crucial elements for success on the water.

Training camps bring incomparable benefit to members of the Club. They’re integral to bonding, the opportunity to row on a different river and for there to be a week of pure mileage where rowing is the main focus.

Rowing is the ultimate team sport, and our training camps play an important role in boosting teamwork and a shared sense of purpose.

I really enjoyed my first training camp in Michaelmas 2024: it gave me my first chance to row in an upper boat, and set us up for a really successful term of racing!

Why do we need support?

Whilst rowing is without doubt one of the most accessible sports at Trinity College, it is also one of the most expensive. We rely on the support of alumni and friends to ensure that current students can continue to enjoy the same privilege of time spent on the river. By donating to subsidise training camp costs, you are helping to keep rowing accessible to all.

It would be a shame to stop the high-performance camps because of finances. We are therefore seeking support to help ensure that this memorable training continues.

Training weeks in Lent and Easter term were fab! I loved getting to know the seniors in Lent as a novice coming up to join their ranks, and Easter offered a great opportunity to cement our new crews and prepare for a term of winning.
