Robert Neild, Emeritus Professor of Economic History, died peacefully at home this morning at the age of 94. Educated at Trinity, he served as Economic Advisor to the Treasury in the 1960s and held other important posts before returning to Trinity as a Fellow in 1971. He published widely on many subjects besides economics, including arms races, strategy, the reform of the civil service, the financial history of Trinity and of Cambridge University, and a history of the oyster in England and France.
A full appreciation will follow in due course.
