Trinity and Christ’s College Women in Maths Residential

Women in Maths 2026 will take place from Thursday 26 March to Saturday 28 March 2026. Applications are now open.

Apply here

Trinity College and Christ’s College annually host a residential programme for women interested in studying maths, or highly mathematical adjacent courses, at top universities. This is a highly successful programme where attendees study maths related topics in a supportive cohort, get to experience life as a Cambridge Maths student, and receive admissions guidance and advice.

Women in Maths is for female students in Year 12 (England & Wales)/Year 13 (Northern Ireland)/S5 (Scotland) who are studying Maths and Further Maths, and wish to explore this further during their degree. The residential is particularly aimed at students who come from a background that is underrepresented at the University of Cambridge.

What is it like to be part of Women in Maths?

Typically there will be about 60 students attending. Rhianna from Skegness, a previous student who attended the residential said:

At the beginning I didn’t know anyone, but someone set up board games for us which helped to settle us in. It’s been really nice to meet women with different aspirations and passions. Everyone is from different backgrounds, but we are all interested in Maths and help each other in lectures.

The residential involves admissions guidance sessions as well as the chance to speak with ambassadors about what it is really like studying at Cambridge. Participant Katherine said:

I found it so useful to gain an insight into the process of applying to Cambridge as well as student life and perspectives of Cambridge. Also it definitely cleared up some of the misconceptions I had before arriving.

The programme includes lectures and classes taught by Cambridge academics, previously including Prof Imre Leader, Fellow & Director of Studies for Mathematics at Trinity, Dr Robert Hunt, Fellow and Director of Studies for Mathematics at Christ’s, and Christ’s Fellow Dr Henry Bradford who teaches about prime numbers.

Helena from Somerset said:

In Maths I like simplifying problems and coming up with new ideas and during the residential it’s been really interesting to see how Maths can be applied in such a huge range of topics, like in medical research.

Women in Maths students particularly enjoy the collaborative atmosphere where they can get to know new people with a good balance of learning.

Apply here before 2 February at 9am.
