Celebrating 150 years of Trinity’s May Ball

Undeterred by summer showers, revellers relished Trinity’s May Ball, which this year celebrated its 150th anniversary.

Some 1800 guests attended the historic event – officially the First and Third Trinity May Ball – which dates back to 1866, when the First Trinity Boat Club was head of the river and Third Trinity a close second.

Like May Bumps results, no doubt celebrations were rather different then. This year guests dodged showers, bumped dodgems, enjoyed a fabulous fireworks display and merrily caroused the night away to headline act Sigma and rock band Nothing But Thieves.
