Accommodation for postgraduate students

Trinity aims to provide rooms in College for all new postgraduate students in College-owned accommodation for the duration of a Masters level degree and for the first 3 years of a PhD degree.  The College has a number of flats which are suitable for couples or families with up to two children.  Allocation of rooms and College flats is subject to availability and may vary from year to year. More detailed information can be found on the Accommodation Office webpages.

Academic opportunities and engagement

Trinity is concerned to give its postgraduates a sense of academic, as well as social and pastoral, affiliation with the College. Academic engagement between Fellows and postgraduate students is encouraged through the College Contacts scheme, through postgraduate dinners and social events, and through College-based academic societies.

College Contacts

A Trinity College Contact is assigned to each postgraduate student studying towards a PhD or equivalent degree.  This Contact will be a Trinity Fellow who is not the student’s Supervisor or Tutor, but whose area of expertise is matched to the student’s field of study. The Contact will not take the place of the departmental Supervisor but will be able to take an interest in the student’s research and provide an academic association within the College environment.

Research Presentation Lunches

Informal lunches, attended by Fellows and postgraduate students of the College, are organised termly to give students the opportunity to present and share their research interests. The lunches focus on a different group of disciplines each term and provide an opportunity for postgraduate students to develop social and academic networks within the College.

Trinity has also established a number of International Exchange Schemes for which postgraduate members of the College can apply.
