Alumnus Peter Molloy came second in the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday 9 March, crossing the finishing line in 1:06:21.
Peter, who graduated with a languages degree last year, came third in the 2024 race and was hoping to improve on his time and place this year.
‘You never quite know what to expect and as it turns out I burnt a few too many of my matches leading the race in the first five miles, meaning I could never fully recover to catch Jonathan Escalante-Phillips (the eventual winner) even if I gave it a good go,’ he said.

‘The upside of this strategy was that I did get to lead the race down the Avenue through Trinity and the centre of town; this was an experience I certainly won’t forget in a hurry!
The support not just in the College but everywhere on the course was brilliant; us guys at the front may look a bit serious, but we do really appreciate the cheers and smiles, particularly on an unseasonally warm day!’

The Cambridge Half Marathon route came through Trinity, from John’s, for the second year and up to 100 staff, students and Fellows joined the thousands running this popular race.
