Birkbeck Lectures 2022: ‘The History of Modern Jihad, from the Middle East to Europe, 1973-2022’

In this year’s Birkbeck Lectures, Professor Gilles Kepel will explore ‘The History of Modern Jihad, from the Middle East to Europe, 1973-2022.’

The lectures will draw on Professor Kepel’s recent book Away from ChaosThe Middle East and the Challenge to the West (Columbia University Press, 2020).

The Birkbeck Lectures 2022 take place in the Winstanley Lecture Theatre at 5pm on 22, 23, 29, and 30 November. All welcome, no booking required. A recording of each lecture will be available afterwards.

Professor Kepel is Director of the Middle East and Mediterranean Program at the Université Paris Sciences et Lettres, based at the Ecole Normale Supérieure.
