As part of Trinity’s celebrations of the Coronation of its alumnus King Charles III Great Gate is lit up with the Matriculation image of the 18-year-old Prince of Wales on Friday 5 May and Saturday 6 May, 9.30pm-10.30pm.
Trinity announces a charitable donation of £30,000 to a local charity and a new staff volunteering scheme. Vice Master Professor Louise Merrett said:
Trinity is proud of its history and its philanthropic role within the University and the city. To mark the Coronation of King Charles III, we are pleased to donate to a local food bank, in keeping with the College’s philanthropic endeavours.
Trinity’s Junior Bursar Emma Davies said:
We are proud to have many staff, students and Fellows who volunteer in the local community. To support this further, Trinity will be giving all staff an extra paid day of leave each year for volunteering.
The news follows the announcement of the King Charles III Professorship in recognition of His Majesty’s lifelong interest in the environment. Funded by Trinity College, this new University of Cambridge role will provide a focus for leadership in the field of sustainability.
