In Brief…

I am the Librarian of Trinity College, with oversight of the special collections in the Wren Library as well as the College Library and the College’s historic archives and modern manuscripts.

Since 2019 I have also served as a College Tutor.

Profile

As Librarian I have the privilege of being responsible for one of the major research libraries of the UK. The dedicated team of library staff are on hand to help our students and any visiting researchers with their studies. We have recently been expanding our digitisation programme in many new directions, in order to make our historic collections as widely available as possible.

I came to Trinity in 2015 after many years as a curator at the British Library.

I serve on the boards of various musical charities including the Musica Britannica Trust and the Vaughan Williams Foundation. I have been closely involved in the Bibliographical Society for several years, and served as its President from 2024 to 2026.

Teaching

I often host seminars and other specialist visits to consult historic materials in the Wren Library. I occasionally teach a course on source studies and editing of music in the Music Faculty.

Research

My research interests are wide-ranging but have centred on medieval music and liturgy. I am General Secretary of the Henry Bradshaw Society, which has been publishing editions of medieval liturgical texts since 1890.

Selected Publications

Music for King Henry: BL Royal 11 E XI (with D. Skinner; London, 2009)

The Las Huelgas Music COdex (Madrid, 2003)

Music in Medieval Manuscripts (London, 2001)
