Sikh Oxbridge Access Conference

Trinity College is pleased to be able to partner with the Cambridge University Sikh Society and Oxford University Sikh Society, to co-host the 2025 Oxbridge Sikh Access Conference. The event will take place in Trinity College on Saturday 22 November between 11-5pm.

Sikh students in Years 11 and 12 (or equivalent) attending UK state schools are invited to apply for an inspiring day of practical advice and insights into making competitve applications for Cambridge and Oxford.

Participants will have the opportunity to hear from the Trinity Outreach & Admissions Team, attend subject breakout sessions, tour the college and meet current Sikh Oxbridge students and alumni.

Students can apply here to attend the Sikh Access Conference. Applications close on Saturday 1st November at 6pm.

Frequently Asked Questions

Trinity College is very keen to encourage applications from academically high-achieving students with little or no family tradition of higher education, who are capable of achieving at least A*AA or equivalent. Accordingly, preference may be given to applicants who:

  • will be the first generation in their family to go to university (i.e., whose parents/carers did not attend university; this excludes siblings); or
  • attend a school that sends few students to Cambridge or Oxford; or
  • are from an ethnic group under-represented at Cambridge; or
  • live in an area identified as having lower socio-economic advantage or low progression rates to higher education; or
  • have spent any time in care; or
  • have significant caring responsibilities (e.g. for a parent/carer or siblings that affects their ability/time to study); or
  • are or have been eligible for free school meals, or the 16-19 bursary; or
  • are refugees.

We do also ask about whether you have a disability and any accessibility or dietary requirements. This is so we can meet any adjustments you may need. What you tell us here is not part of our selection process and will not influence whether you are offered a place.

We will reimburse reasonable travel costs for young people to whom any of the following applies:

(i) you are eligible for free school meals

(ii) you are from a family with a household income of below £40,000

(iii) you are estranged from your family

(iv) you are in local authority care

You do not have to study any specific subjects to apply for this programme. This event is open to all Sikh students who are interested in studying any subject at the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge.

We do however look for students with a track record of strong academic achievement and evidence of exploring their interests through extra- and super-curricular activities.

This event is open to all students in Years 11 and 12 (England and Wales), Years 12 and 13 (Northern Ireland) or S4 and S5 (Scotland).

We will prioritise students who attend state schools, or those receiving a full bursary at their school, and students from backgrounds which are underrepresented at Cambridge.

If you have any questions regarding the event, please get in touch with Heather and Luke, our School Liaison Officers, at [email protected]
