Eve Simpson

Second-year Law student

My academic journey can be clearly split into two: the first half in which I undervalued my potential and the second, where I really took off and much more distance was covered. From developing artistic talents, to constantly improving academically, many areas of my life were transformed. What caused this change was simple: I decided to aim for the top, even if it felt like I couldn’t make it. I would just give it a go. It was this attitude and a lot of prayer that got me where I am today: at Trinity College, Cambridge studying Law and running my own art business in my spare time.

This journey was not straightforward and there were many, including myself at times, who thought I wouldn’t make it. Overcoming nerves and self doubt was the first hurdle and I wasn’t aware that there were so many more to come. Cambridge has thrown many obstacles at me, ranging from imposter syndrome to racism but after only a year at the University, I already feel more equipped to continue on the journey that is life.
