Succession: Andrew Nelson

Andrew Nelson

Final-year English student

I really don’t know what to say about my journey as a black student at Trinity other than that is has been a rich and challenging experience full of conflict and learning, which has made me a much stronger pupil than when I started in my first year. I’m of Caribbean descent and my mother is of Jamaican heritage.

I’m very proud to be a black student at Trinity and have learnt so much over the course of my years at Cambridge. I hope that the future will encourage black students to apply to Trinity to face the challenges, to learn from them and to reorganise and restructure the University system so that it can accommodate black students and help them to success in the future.
