The rain mostly held off to allow just over 200 alumni who came up to Trinity from 1961 and Earlier to reunite in College on Wednesday 29 March for their latest reunion.

It was lovely to see small groups of alumni in Great Court as friends bumped into one another despite the years apart, recognition was (almost) instantaneous for most. Some early arrivals met in the bar or found a spot to do a little work in advance. Even those that did not require enjoyed a trip down the avenue in a Golf buggy.

Once registered, everyone gathered in the Ante-Chapel for tea and cake ahead of Choral Evensong, where a Choir of alumni performed expertly, and the assembled gentlemen sang loudly and wholeheartedly. Thanks to Mike Waldron (2006)  for coordinating and conducting.

For the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, pre-dinner drinks took place in the Master’s Lodge. At the sounding of the gong, everyone filed into Hall for dinner, where some of our Fellows (Professor Keith Moffatt, Professor John Lonsdale, Professor Brian Josephson, Lord Julian Hunt of Chesterton and Dr Jean Khalfa) joined us.

Dr Michael Banner (Chair of Alumni Relations & Development), provided an update on recent College activities and future plans. We are grateful to 1952 alumnus, Robin O’Neil CMG, for giving the Toast to the College after dinner. Robin was followed by the Master, Professor Dame Sally Davies who thanked everyone for coming and, of course, the College’s wonderful catering team for the outstanding hospitality. The evening was rounded off with a post-dinner drink or two in Hall, and some alumni continued in the College Bar afterwards.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this very special reunion event.
