Living History: Nina Vinther
Defining moment Trinity
It would have to be last year’s Singing in the River with Trinity College Choir. The setting was perfect, the sizeable audience was expectantly assembled on the riverbanks, and the song was an arrangement of Dean Martin’s ‘Ain’t that a kick in the head’. I was soloing with one of my wonderful male colleagues; he and the band struck up and as I wobbled to my feet for a histrionic riposte, I was overwhelmed by a wave of not only nausea (the punts had been questionably festooned together by Trinity’s own finest engineers…) but also of exhilaration, even elation. This felt like absolute equality. In that moment I loved each and every person in those punts, and I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else.
